Dial it

At US$500, it’s a tad more expensive that your average cellphone, and it might not fit easily into your pocket, but the cool points you’ll win with a portable rotary phone are too good to ignore. This fully-assembled modern antique comes complete with spin-dial, gong-style metal balls ringtone, and a place to slot your SIM card so you can keep your usual number and use your account minutes. Sadly, the sound quality might not be that hot – but imagine the looks when you pull it out of your briefcase during a business meeting. Check it out on www.sparkfun.com.
Flaunt it

As the anointed “fashion editor,” I had the privilege of being sent a nice new pair of underpants from the good people at German fashion house Schiesser. The jocks are made from a superfine fibre produced by Schiesser and Australian textile manufacturer Lenzing, they’re exceedingly comfortable to wear – especially on the tender bits – and they’d look good on any woman’s floor. They’re part of Schiesser’s fall and winter homewear collection, on sale at the Schiesser store in Harbour City, TST; or at Causeway Bay’s Sogo.

Sweat it

The impossible to pronounce XaviX, a Japanese company, has come upwith a wireless console that lets you exercise in virtualrealityfrom the comfort of your living room. Using computerised sports equipment, you can simulate boxing, tennis, bowling (to be launched September 2), baseball, golf or aerobics while watching all the action on your television screen. My personal favourite is the tennis – with sensored rackets, you can practice your serve, challenge yourself in a tournament tour, or take on your friends in two-player mode. Failing that, it’s always a good option to chuck on the boxing gloves for a bit of imaginary biffo. All in all, it seems a most agreeable way to exercise. Almost as good as going outside. You can see what the hype’s about at the covered piazza in Times Square on September 2 and 3 from 10:30am to 10pm; or at the main concourse in Harbour City from 11am to 9pm from September 1 – 12. Snap it

Who said gadgets were for guys? Lomo cameras are foolproof. They can withstand dropping from handbags (when fumbling for booze cash), tabletops (when dancing on them), and even boys’ windows (during a fast exit). Now they look pretty too. This special edition magenta beauty was designed by Yank Graf artist Dalek, and comes with a book of the artist’s images to inspire snap-happiness.
$500, Page One (2506 0381).

Wear it
You can stop crying “Is my lip gloss okay? Are my teeth clean? Can I borrow your mirror?” because Liparazzi can stop those wrinkle-inducing worries instantly. UK beauty pundit Nina Leyland created the nifty light-up lip gloss following a night out with former Spice Girl Emma Bunton and hasn’t been left in the dark since. Nor will you – each of the five glossy shades comes with its own light and mirror, forestalling any unnecessary trips to the bathroom…
$195, exclusively at Lane Crawford.
