Blue is the colour of Lam Tin station and that’s probably how one would feel living here as well. Lam Tin station is big and spacious, as well as empty. It is one of few stations with no stores, Circle K or 7-11 whatsoever. If you want to grab a coffee before rushing to work in the morning, either count on the vending machine or walk another 2 minutes through the aisle to the shopping mall for a McDonald’s treat. Queues can be found every morning around 8:45am as people are eagerly waiting for the bank counter to open . Lam Tin is a residential area without much going on, no cinemas or grand shopping arcades (there is a tiny library up the hill though), but the recent opening of Japanese supermarket Jusco in September offers housewives and amahs a ver itable shopping bonanza, yes we’re really reaching here to find something to write about. Conveniently Lam Tin is close to Lei Yue Mun - famous for its seafood restaurants. So on a weekend - “Go directly to Lei Yue Mun, do not stop in Lam Tin, do not collect $2” - and enjoy your seafood, fresh from the tanks in front of the restaurants, with a fine sea view. There you have Lam Tin, more exciting than your average MTR stop. |
