Phone it
It was just a matter of time before aesthetics became a part of the appeal of a mobile phone, and the fashion world went in there horns blazing. While phones have been subject to certain designer reinventions – the D&G Razr anyone? – few fashion houses have actually been major partners in the production of the phone. Well, that’s changed with the release of the LG and Prada phone, which should be hitting our streets later this month. Its sleek minimalist design is what Prada is so well known for and will appeal to the brand’s groupies, while the touch screen, multimedia features and Bluetooth capabilities will appeal to those who want something smart and sexy. Check out www.lgpradaphone.com for more details. |

Slam-dunk it
Spot one common thing among DJ-turns-standup comedian Jan Lamb, lyricist-turns-fashion writer Wyman Wong and teenage girls’ idol-turns-CEO of multi-media production company Edison Chen. No clue? They are all fans of Nike Force 1. To celebrate the 25th birthday of this classic pair of trainers, Nike is launching the Nike Force Gold Legacy Pack, which is also a tribute to 12 top-class basketball players including Kobe Bryant and Moses Malone. Limited numbers of trainers are being sold at IFC Lane Crawford now, and they cost $15,999 for a box set containing a pair of Air Force 1s and a pair of Air Force 25s. Another common thing among Lamb, Wong and Chen – that they are rich. |

Read it
Think Wallpaper is cool but can’t bare reading a whole magazine on design? Tyler Brûlé, founder of the authoritative design magazine, has got something new for you. Monocle, his new publication has just landed in Hong Kong. The magazine will cover a great variety of topics from A to E – literally. Five sections will be A - affairs, B - business, C - culture, D - design and E - editors’ choice information on life style. From hi-end fashion news to in-depth analysis on world politics, this may be one of the most schizophrenic magazines you can find. |

Wear itWear it
People rejoice! The iconic brand of the masses is here – H&M will finally be opening its Asian doors on Queen’s Road Central on March 10. This is the clothing giant’s first East Asian store and will include most of their lines for men, women and children. Appropriate for casual, formal and work wear, it’s often a saviour for last minute quality buys (as this writer can attest to) and wonderful seasonal finds. We are also being treated to something special, the new line ‘M by Madonna’, designed with the superstar songstress will debut here two weeks before the rest of the world. It’s bound to be just as successful as their partnerships with Karl Lagerfeld, Victor & Rolf and Stella McCartney that lead to women lining up round the block in the wee hours of the morning just to snag a few items (to resell on ebay). |

Scribble it
Procrastination is possibly one of the most popular pastimes of adults, especially when stuck in a dead-end desk job. Have a little fun and explore your creative side while at work with the Color Bug, a radio-controlled art toy that looks like a ladybug. Stick a felt-tip in its head, and then radio control the device to swivel around the page creating crazy designs and patterns. Oh yeah, and if you have kids, it’s good for them too, but it means you’ll have to share. |

Fly it
Travel in style and get the attitude. We know designer Agnès b. loves traveling from her Voyage collection, and now you can actually travel with her on the plane. Well not exactly with her, but with her design. Agnès b. is presenting a newly designed amenity kit in collaboration with Cathay Pacific, and the bags will come in silver and pink or baby blue for female, and grey and black or dark for male. And each kit comes with skincare products and amenities such as dental set, socks and eyeshades. But as always, style comes with a price – the travel kit will only be available to business class passengers of long haul flights. |
