Be it
You would think it impossible – David Beckham as an autobiographical artist. But for Adidas “impossible is nothing” and the company has invited a clutch of international sports stars, including Beckham, NBA player Gilbert Arenas and track athlete Jeremy Wariner, to relate their personal trials and triumphs through hand-drawn illustrations and paintings. To view the artwork and watch videos of the athletes telling their stories, check out www.adidas.com.hk. |

Jam it
Want to jam like a rock star but lack the skills? Guitar Hero 2 for the Xbox 360 allows you to rock out to classic American rock ’n’ roll hits in the comfort of your own home, even if you don’t know your A from your E. If you’re familiar with rhythm-based games such as Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero will be a cinch, though instead of jumping on a pad to girly pop music, you press buttons on a specially made guitar controller and rock out all night to real licensed music from Nirvana, Van Halen, Aerosmith, and many more. This game has sold 1.7 million copies in the US alone, so it’s a shame we can’t buy it in HK stores. But, hey, you can always import it online from the game’s official site www.redoctane.com or via several other video game sites. |

Shelter it
The skies have opened and the wind is gale force. You arrive home soaking and dishevelled and think, “We’ve been to the moon and beyond, but why can’t anyone make even one decent umbrella on this planet?” Which is exactly what a young Dutch man experienced one rainy day – and then went on to invented an umbrella which resists storms up to wind force 10: it promises to find the best position in the wind and never flip inside out! Say goodbye to embarrassing and sodden moments in terrible weather by clicking www.senzumbrellas.com! |

Grind it
For some the most anticipated film of 2007 may be a blockbuster like the third sequel of Spiderman or those Jolly Rogers of the Caribbean, but Quentin Tarantino has a surprise up his semi-arthouse sleeve with Grindhouse, a movie modelled on the celluloid nasties of the US in the ’70s. And if you know your film history, Hong Kong caught up with those low budget ‘grindhouse’ Americans in the ’80s, so we should feel right at home with Tarantino’s exploitation of all things B in the ’70’s US (and ‘80’s HK ) film industry. We may not see it on the big screen for a while yet, but we can certainly get pumped by the soundtrack out on March 25. Check it out in any local record store or online at www.maverickrecords.com |

Clot it
Oh, that Edison Chen! What with his ‘acting’ and ‘rapping’, he is now also a fashion designer with a new line of ‘Clot’ clothing. He has come out with several versions of Clot Fantasy shirts, each featuring a scantily clad girl. But these aren’t just any clothe-lacking lassies – they are Maggie Q, Stephanie Chang, and Amanda Strang. And since John Mayer and Lupe Fiasco have been seen sporting Clot, demand has rocketed. Looks like you’ll only be able to buy these on Ebay or in some seedy Mongkok centre next to a store selling pirated porn… for three times the original price. |

Puff it
James Gandolfini will probably agree that Vito Corleone is the godfather of all Mafia movies. And his Tony Soprano copied Corleone with a cigar perennially stuck in his face. Which has been so successful, Cao Cigars have tailor-made Soprano cigars especially for fans of the big smokes and the North Jersey Mafia family. The limited edition comes in three sizes and the box set in the most unexpected of colours – pink! If only for that, check out www.caocigars.com/cao_web/flash_index.html |
