Welcome Le Le. Welcome Ying Ying.

Welcome to Asia’s World City – here are a few words of advice as you get settled into your new home. You are living in one of the world’s fastest cities, so make sure you take some time out to relax in our many shopping centres. We love to shop and you’ll find all the hippest brands – OK, well, most – and only certain lines – but be sure to buy in the correct shops. To ensure the great and good can convert their monopolies on brand distribution into maximum profits, we have laws to prevent the importation of identical items (grey market products) bought elsewhere at a lower price to be sold here at a cheaper price (for the benefit of the many). And to say thank you for buying their product, international giants like Sony and Canon will not support/provide a warranty for their own products if you bought them in the ’wrong’ store. Oh, and you’ll need a mobile phone, expect to get charged for a few calls you didn’t make, but don’t expect the customer service to care about your problems.... Actually don’t expect much in the way of customer service at all here, except from the many genuine watch salesmen walking along Nathan Road.
Two things you definitely need to get the hang of: sms and IPO; few people actually use their phones for voice calls now – it’s much more inconvenient to lrn a nw lnguge n msge ur frnd than actually interact with your voice. IPOs join everyone else in trying to make a few buck$ on the rampaging bull market. But all that money making and shopping can tire a bear out if he doesn’t eat properly and, while I know you’re on a special diet (and that may not be a bad thing), you should know that a recent listing of the world’s top 100 restaurants found only one to be in Asia’s World City. It was in the stratospheric position of 82 – even that hub of excitement Singapore managed three restaurants in the list. So dining here is not all it could be… Yet, I’m sure you’ll grow to love the city, it has energy and vitality unlike anywhere else and a buzz that drives it in perpetual motion. It’s our home and we love it. Welcome to Hongkie Town.

All of Hong Kong xx
