Protect It!
Bananas have their own natural covers – peels, they’re called – but they still bruise easily when being transported and end up bouncing around in, say, a plastic bag, soft backpack or cramped brief case. So how does one prevent this? Why, get a special case or guard for your banana of course! You can get the original banana protector from http://www.bananaguard.com/ but those seeking some kawaii-ness on top of it all should make a special point to head over to the Japanese language http://www.sanrio.co.jp/products/200704/banana/welcome.html to ogle the custom-made Hello Kitty and Cinamaroll banana cases Sanrio has come up with.

Go for It!
May is National Masturbation Month. Don’t believe us? Check out www.masturbate-a-thon.com for confirmation and more – including an announcement that May 26 will see the holding of the seventh San Francisco – yes, you’re reading this correctly – Masturbate-A-Thon. A live charity event organized by The Center For Sex & Culture, it has successfully enlisted the celebrity likes of Claire Daines and Jaime Lee Curtis to donate and/or pledge for the cause which already has raised over US$25,000 in its first six years from over 1,700 participants. On a more competitive note: it boasts categories like Longest Time Spent Masturbating (current records: 6.5 hours (female); 8.5 hours (male)) and Most Orgasms (current records: six for a male…and a whopping 49 for a female). And in 2007, there’s a new record to aim for: Greatest Ejaculation Distance!

Beat It
You can bust out the beat anywhere on the go with these roll-up electronic drum pads. The JoBar electronic roll-up drum weighs only 19 oz and folds into a cylinder that’ll easily fit into your backpack. The pads include the basic tones – high hats, cymbals, snare – to go with 10 sample tracks. Or you can turn off the tracks and create your own drum solo. These things burn up batteries pretty fast though (four AAs required), but you can use an AC adaptor instead. A keyboard piano comes in the same roll-up line, so you and a friend can jam wherever you are. Get it at Amazon.com right for US$30.

Hang It
Ever get stuck on the phone with a relative/boyfriend/girlfriend, who just wouldn’t stop talking? Hang up on them without feeling guilty with this Get Off The Phone Excuse Machine. The handy little gadget recreates such classic scenarios as the doorbell (“Oops, someone’s at the door!”), the static (“Wait, what? I can’t hear you!”), baby crying (“Gotta go, the baby is crying…”) and the car crash (“Noooo!”). Make sure you remember which excuse you used on which friend, so you can mix it up – you wouldn’t want to pull the car crash twice in a week on the same person now, would you? Check it out at www.stupid.com

Scan It
Nintendo Wii’s motion-sensored controller primitive? If NeuroSky inc. have their way, in a few years that’s how people will be looking back at today’s gaming sensation. NeuroSky is working on a brain-scanning ‘toy’ that will take video games to a whole new level. The technology measures a person’s baseline brain-wave activity, including signals that relate to concentration and relaxation, to control the movements on screen. In its early stages yet, the helmet-like scanner is still years away, but a prototype could be released later in 2007.
