iTalk It

Good news for Mac fans: Apple has confirmed the release date for its new iPhone as June 29. The most hyped gadget of the year is unlikely to solve global warming or end world hunger but is likely to give the major players in the mobile phone market a kick up the ass. Which can only be good for us, joe and jane consumers. Officially only available in the US - US$499 or US$599 depending on memory size - expect to see them in our local computer malls within a week, but at what sort of mark-up? To see the new phones in action check out the adverts
on Apple’s website (www.apple.com/iphone/ads).

iExhibitionist It
Youtube + blog = Your Truman Show. Really expose your life to friends, family...the world. No hiding behind a pseudonym or anonymous blog. Stand up, speak out, be proud of who you are and what you have to say. It’s actually the next logical step beyond blogging: create your own world, exhibit and express yourself visually online. If this sounds like you, take a look at Your Truman Show (YTS). It’s as easy to use as learning to handle a video or webcam. Users can give comments, review and rate each other’s stories as well. Obviously not recommended if you are easily offended or a mask-wearing fanatic too scared for people to see what you believe in, www.yourtrumanshow.com

iSki It
The Jockey Club doesn’t even offer odds on the chance of snow falling in Hong Kong. So if you wanna ski locally - Paris has told us that indoor plastic snow ramps are so passe this year - you have to get creative and take to the street. On your own mobile ‘accident waiting to happen’ Tayo Sport Urban Ski Skateboard. Our Korean isn’t great but we think it says “It is a ski, slide and spring board all in one and comes with an impressive list of features designed to prevent impacts and reduce collisions.” So don’t worry when you wipe out your board will be just fine. Snow or not, anyone can enjoy it anywhere and anytime for 132,000 Korean won (HK$1100) from www.tayosport.co.kr

iPaint It
The Island Shangri-La and its fine dining French restaurant Petrus commissioned a painting from contemporary French artist Christian Pendelio to celebrate the restaurant’s 16th year and the long-standing friendship between France and Hong Kong. Pendelio came up with Ange Musician Dans Le Jardin Du Ciel” (The Angel That Plays Music in the Garden of the Sky). 200 limited editions lithographs are on sale at $1,000 a piece as a fund raiser for the hotel’s preferred charity partner, Care for Children (www.careforchildren.com.cn). Pendelio’s paintings are warm and colourful and can be found in collections all over the world – for more information visit www.pendelio.net.

iPanda It
Le Le and Ying Ying arrived here in April, and have spent the last two months customizing their new home with the latest gadgets to properly fit in with the local bling bling set. The fifteen-month-old pandas, regarded as national treasures, are a reunification gift from the government of the People’s Republic of China to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR. But that all ends on July 1 when they’ll be chewing the shoots with their new fans and settling into Hong Kong’s first ever Big Brother House. How will they cope with instant fame? Will we be seeing panda procreation on Youtube anytime soon? And how will An An and Jia Jia the King and Queen of Hong Kong Pandapop take to the energetic upstarts? All this, and Twins, live on your computer screen this July!
