(I) Jane, events manager
Not really, but I will book a restaurant from where I can watch the fireworks on July 1.

(II) Steven, student
Yes, July 1 is important for me because I can have a holiday on that day.

(III) Troy, teacher
No, I will celebrate Canada Day rather than the 10th Anniversary reunion celebration.

(IV) Henry,
Yes, I feel like I’m a real Chinese person.

(V) Calvin, student
Holiday and vacation is what July 1 means to me.

The Find: Shrek Ears Headband
Final Price: $10
Where found: McDonalds
This summer’s ultimate fashion accessory has got to be this pair of designer Shrek ears. Walk the streets and we guarantee everyone will be looking at you. Perfect for every occasion, these funky green ears are ‘voluntarily’ worn by McDonalds’ employees all over Hong Kong: these people should really be featured in a spread in Vogue or Cosmopolitan!

You won’t find too many establishments bearing the name Fortress Hill in the area served by the Fortress Hill MTR station. Instead, you’ll see signs for the North Point Alliance Church, North Point Church of Seventh Day Adventists and North Point Methodist Primary School. North Point is sometimes described as a district in its own right but it is officially subsumed under the Eastern District. Yet further evidence of this area being part of North Point (aka Little Fujian) is the Fukienese sounds that pepper the more usual Cantonese along the residential-cum-commercial streets. Not to mention Fukien Middle School on Electric Road near The Electric Centre. For all this though, the Causeway Bay Market also turns out to be in this area, albeit further west on Electric Road. And whatever your dialect, check out the area’s many eateries, which include a number of Japanese restaurants and Ching Ching Desserts, a traditional Chinese dessert shop at 77 Electric Road very popular with the locals.
