New Tastes, New Place
Newly opened Hebe One O One (112 Pak Sha Wan, Sai Kung, 2335 5515) is three stories of beautiful bayside views. The ground floor bar and dining room are family friendly, signature drinks include ice cream cocktails ($58) like the Alaskan Polar Bear made of vanilla ice cream blended with Frangelico, Amaretto and chocolate syrup. There’s also a thoughtfully installed baby changing room. The first-floor restaurant maintains an air of elegance and serves international/western cuisine. Popular dishes include New Zealand mussels ($188) served with crusty bread and choice of herb cream or spicy arrabiata sauce, and lamb rack ($188) with minted mash, beetroot and jus. A built-in bar on the balcony of the roof terrace gives you a great way to relax with a drink and enjoy the view. Open daily 11:30am-midnight, last order 10:30pm. Open for breakfast at 8am on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Kasbah’s move to Arbuthnot Road (G/F, 4-8 Arbuthnot Road, Central, 2525 9497) has given this Arabic/Moroccan bar lounge and restaurant higher ceilings and more open space. Previously divided into Kasbah restaurant and Medina bar, Kasbah is now a fusion of both under one roof. You can go just for the drinks (classics like the Mojito with fresh mint for $77 are still being served, but also ask for new offerings not yet on the menu, like the strawberry daiquiri), a meal (popular dishes include the mezze platter for two for $135 and the couscous Kasbah with roasted lamb shank, beef merguez and vegetables for $178), or to wine, dine, and smoke some shisha. A new addition to the menu, North African sandwiches are lighter fare running under $100. The kitchen is open Monday-Saturday 6:30pm-11:30pm, the bar 6:30pm-2am.

Three Star Michelin
A great chef makes all the difference in turning a good meal into a gourmet experience. And so when we found out three-star Michelin chef Pierre Gagnaire would be returning to Pierre restaurant of the Mandarin Oriental (5 Connaught Road, Central, 2820 4202) from July 20-25, cooking up signature dishes of modern French cuisine and meeting with diners, we just had to tell you about it. This is something you’ll need a reservation for, as it’s no small thing to have one of Restaurant magazine’s top three chefs of the world cook your meal and talk leisurely to you about it.

Spicy House
Starting on July 18, House of Tang Chinese restaurant of the Metropark Hotel Kowloon (75 Waterloo Road, Kowloon, 2760 3628) is serving a menu of Hunan and Shandong delicacies. Hot and sour Hunan dishes like sautéed crab with spicy chili sauce will be offered alongside Shandong specialties such as sautéed king prawn with ginger in its own jus. Book online to receive a 15% discount and coupons are offered to set menu patrons.
