I haven’t heard of many rappers in Hong Kong. Where in Hong Kong do rappers go to rap?
K: Rappers usually rap in clubs.
D: As far as I know, there is not a specific place
where rappers rap, but you can find Hong Kong MCs in various clubs in Hong Kong.
Have you worked with famous artists? How was it?
K: I’ve worked with Ron Ng before. It was a great experience and I had lots of fun.
D: I’ve worked with Sammy Leung. That was an interesting project in which I learnt a lot about the Hong Kong pop industry. And I’m in the process of making an R&B/hip-hop single with Rosemary.
OK… Wikipedia says almost all popular rappers are homophobic, how about you?
K: As long as they don’t come and approach, that I’m cool with.
D: Aside from rapping, I do a lot of modelling. And through that I’ve met many homosexual models, and they’re actually more down to earth than people assume, so no, that does not apply to me.
So when did you start rapping? What made you start?
K: I started rapping long time ago, but I was just messing around until two years ago. I started to get serious then, and work hard on it. Writing lyrics is the only way to release my mind.
D: I started two years ago because I would always listen to music and read books, and that gave me a lot of thoughts for lyrics – and so I decided to start writing tracks. My close friends gave me a lot of motivation and ideas.
What’s the best venue you’ve rapped at?
K: Edge.
D: I would have to say Club Hot because the crowds were usually amazing and most of the people were very friendly.
Do you work with a band?
K: I’m currently part of N3, and we’re planning to release an album soon.
D: Currently, I’m working individually, but I have future plans to work with various artists and bands.
Who has inspired you the most?
K: Mistah Khaki aka MC Vibe. He spent lots of time on me and I will never forget that.
D: A lot of people have inspired me, but the main person for me is Lady.S.
What languages can you rap in?
K: English and Cantonese.
D: English and Mandarin.
And what do you usually rap about?
K: I usually rap about my personal issues, such as struggles, life, etc. But I’m planning to write something about society and more along those lines.
D: Usually, I rap about my situations and circumstances including problems, changes and love.
Eminem is so hot! What would make me love you as much?
K: Come to the party then you’ll find out.
D: I’m half white.
What do you hope to achieve in the near future?
K: I’m planning to release a solo album soon. And in five to 10 years, I’m planning to sign a new artist and promote them out.
D: Real music, and a successful career.
OK… finally, what should SPLASH party people expect from you?
K: Keep it a secret – just come and find out.
D: SPLASH has evolved to be a unique cultural event. People expect me to pour my heart out in this performance, introduce different music, and different raps to bring up the music element of culture. All I hope is they will show me love.
