Summer may be over but the heat continues as Mexican September spices up the territory with promotions galore. Back in the days of the politically incorrect 20th century, boys and girls used to play as cowboys and Indians with cap pistols and bows and arrows, warring and saving the girl. But now we’re in the post Bush invades Iraq so his friends can get rich to save our politically correct world era. Any cow-person who dares to play with a pretend Native American is more likely to get arrested as a terrorist. As for cap-pistols? Forget them… But no more, for Corona is bringing the Cowgirl to the Wild Wild East and you can release your inner John Wayne and join the posse and “ride ‘em cowboy” in your favourite outlets, www.coronafun.com.hk.

Happy Birthday Joe Bananas, back in the days before the internet, Soho, Wyndham Street, LKF.. Before mobile phones, when real men held open the door for ladies and cocktails came by the jug rather than the small glass, there were two English words that every taxi driver knew: Joe Bananas. Globally famous or infamous for a great night out, Joe Bananas is 21 years young, Happy Birthday JB’s. And to celebrate, there are parties galore: a Groovy-licious 70’s party (8 Sept), an 80’s weekend (15 Sept), a 90’s night on the 22 Sept and a twisted toga party – Trojan Nights - for the 29th Sept. Crazy hour runs every day from 11am till 8pm with $16 standard and $21 premium drinks.

Chivas will have whisky purists squirming in agony at the launch of their new recipe cocktails – Chivas Green Tea and Chivas Ribena. But with the sweet and concentrated grapes flavour, “Ribena added with Chivas can bring new breeze to this summer”. Not enough? Go to Me Too (No.9-9A, G/F, Chatham Court, TST, 3107 0008). The newly opened bar with live DJ and bar top dancing is offering 3 special Chivas cocktail including SOS ($70) Chivas and cointreau with lychee juice, pineapple juice; Mother Maria ($60) Chivas, blueberry liqeur, 7-up and a fresh blueberry and Confidential ($80) Chivas, orange juice, curacao, lime juice and lemon juice. Certainly something a little different!

England’s less than glorious four year reign as Rugby World Champions comes to an end as 23 teams compete against them in France to hoist the William Webb Ellis trophy at the Rugby World Cup 2007. Heineken is the official beer of RWC 07 and if you’re watching the match in these outlets - 8 Fine Irishmen Pub (8 Observatory Court, TST, 23162133), Bahama Mama’s (4-5 Kuntsford Terrace, TST, 2368 2121), Delaney’s Wanchai (18 Luard Road, Wanchai, 2804 2880), Sticky Fingers Bar & Restaurant (Shop 61-63 Tsim Sha Tsui Centre, G/F 66 Mody Rd, TST, 2369 8981) and others - buy four bottles of Heineken and get yourself into the lucky draw to win tickets to the final in France on the 20th October plus other goodies. Stolen

Ok which thieving lowlife stole The Canny Man’s dog? Kevin the owner, in a remarkable show of restraint for an angry Scotsman, has promised not to rip the dirty rotten scoundrel limb from limb if the dog is returned. If anyone wants to grass out the thief, a reward is up for grabs. Contact Kevin@thecannyman.com if you have any information. The Canny Man (Bsmt, 37-73 Lockhart Road, 2861 1935) is showing the Rugby World Cup - and remains an English premier league free zone – which you can enjoy with a pint of Greene King IPA draft (38HH/58NH) or a large pint bottle of Mangers Irish Cider (52HH/72NH).
