Fiesta
Well known for their passion, the Mexicans love to party and enjoy life. And the party doesn’t get much bigger than on Independence Day. On September 16, 1810, fuelled by three centuries of oppression and sparked by a call to revolt by the respected Catholic priest Hidalgo, the Mexican Revolution erupted in the village of Dolores, as the Mexicans threw off the yoke of Spanish rule. Agave (93 Lockhart Road, Wanchai, 2866 3228) is joining the worldwide party with an all-you-can-eat buffet, on Monday September 17, featuring dishes like cactus salad, stuffed poblano peppers topped with walnut sa uce and pomegranate, chicken in mole poblano sauce (made with chillies and bitter chocolate), salted cod stew with garlic, tomato and chiles. Starting from 8.30pm till late, Grupo Achai provides live music and the $270 price includes one Corona.

Musical Fusion
The comfortable and relaxing Club Cixi (G/F, 1 On Hing Terrace, Central, 2286 0333) has a new fusion menu to go with its attractive drink promotions and regular live music. Dishes include a very tasty roasted rack of New Zealand lamb ($158), a 10 oz grilled Canadian ‘Angus’ strip loin ($210), soft shell crab and mango roll ($58), Thai green curry with chicken ($78) all rounded off with some deep fried ice-cream($68) or pavlova ($68) – last orders at 10pm.
