Sometimes you go to a new restaurant or bar and just know it will be a success, no matter the quality of food and service or the price because it has that one essential ingredient – location, location, location. Sevva (25/F Prince’s Building, Central, 2537 1388) opened earlier this month on the top floor of Prince’s Building in the heart of Central. What makes the 25th floor of Prince’s building different from most other top floor locations in Central is a large 360 degree terrace that offers superb views of the heart of Hong Kong. Sevva, pronounced ‘savour’, is the latest creation of Bonnie Gokson, who was behind the Joyce Café – the 22,000sq ft area features two restaurants, three different menus, a bar, a cake shop… Standing on the terrace, feeling Central pulse and throb around you... priceless.
While Lan Kwai Fong markets itself as the night-life centre of Hong Kong, the heart of the Sevens party is in Wanchai with the area just buzzing throughout the tournament. Several outlets including Devils Advocate (48-50 Lockhart Rd, 2865 7271) will be open 24 hours throughout the weekend. Devils and Spicy Fingers (78-82 Jaffe Rd, 2861 3588) will be offering hearty Sevens breakfasts to get you fueled up for a day’s cheering and dancing in the Stadium. At night there’ll be live music in Dusk till Dawn (76-84 Jaffe Rd, 2528 4689), The Wanch (54 Jaffe Road, 2861 1621) and Spicy Fingers to keep you moving till the wee hours. Alternatively head over to Heat (54-62 Lockhart Rd, 2528 0997) where DJ CJ will be laying down the beats.
Start your Sevens weekend early on March 27 at Grace (G/F Chao’s Building, 143-145 Bonham Strand, Sheung Wan, 2850 7766) with speciality beer tasting. From 7pm onwards, you can try six different pints of exclusive English and Belgian beers with $200, or five for $160. The beers available are Doom Bar Bitter, De Koninick Tripel, Yellowhammer, Thomas Hardy Vintage Ale, De Koninck Blond and Old Speckled Hen.
