Buff Bodies
The 2008 HK Bodybuilding Championships organised by the HK China Bodybuilding And Fitness Association (HKCBBA) will take place on Sunday, April 20, at the Tseung Kwan O Sports Centre. With separate sections for women (including a Ms Bodyfitness category) and men of different age groups (under-21 juniors, over-40 masters and those in between) and weight divisions (from 65kg and below to above 80kg), there’s a specific competition for just about everyone who is muscular and intent on maximizing muscle hypertrophy. The entry fee is $100 per person and submission deadline is Thursday, April 3. Additionally, at 7pm on Saturday, April 19, contestants will attend a weigh-in at the Meeting Rooms, 1/F Olympic House, 1 Stadium Path, So Kon Po, Causeway Bay. On April 20 itself, the contest will begin at 6:30pm but competitors are required to report to the director of competition at 1pm.

Rugby Sevens
The Cathay Pacific/Credit Suisse HK Sevens is the name and seven-a-side rugby will be the game at the 40,000-capacity HK Stadium from March 28-30. Twenty-four international teams (including defending champions Samoa, 11-time winners Fiji, eight-time champions New Zealand, five-time winners Australia, four-time winners England, Scotland, Argentina, Japan and, of course, hosts Hong Kong) have been drawn into six pools of four teams each and play in a minimum of four matches comprising seven-minute halves and two-minute intervals (except the Cup final which comprises 10 minute halves). The 32nd edition of the HK Sevens will kick off at 4:30pm on March 28 and feature a total of 57 games, although tickets for the world’s premier rugby sevens tournament were sold out some time ago.

Splash ’n Dash
Two thirds of a triathlon, the aquathon is a gruelling test of swimming and running over set distances. In the first of the four-race PowerBar Splash ’n Dash Aquathon Series on Sunday, April 20, at Repulse Bay, the Challenge category involves a 500 metre swim and 5 km run while the Sprint category requires a 375 metre swim and 2.5 km run. Registration for participants is currently open and will close at 11:59pm on April 17. On the day of the race, registered participants need to clock in once more from 7:15-8:15am. After which we hope you manage to enjoy as well as go the distance!
