5 Nations
Just when you think your rugby fun is over for a year... not yet it isnt. The first HSBC Asian Five Nations tournament will take place throughout April and May with teams from Japan, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Korea and the Arabian Gulf playing off in a round robin home-and-away format. The competition is an International Rugby Board initiative to push rugby throughout Asia and tops a four-tier structure in which less successful teams compete in Divisions 1, 2 and a Regional division. Depending on how well they do, teams can be promoted up or down through the divisions and the bottom team after the Asian Five Nations tournament will swap places with the top team in Division 1 for the following year. Hong Kong’s first match in the round robin will be against the Arabian Gulf on April 26 at Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates. The first home game will kick-off against Kazakhstan on 3 May at 4pm at HK Football Club. Ticket details to be confirmed. For enquiries, please contact the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union (Tel: 2504 8311).

Welcome to the Olympics!
The countdown to the 2008 Olympics started in Beijing years ago, but it isn’t ‘official’ until it reaches a number most of us are actually capable of counting to. A round hundred seems to be as good a number as any and a series of events has been organized to celebrate the 100-day countdown to the Beijing Olympics Games. Here are some of the highlights:-
For the first time ever, an official running competition links up Tian Tan Buddha and Ngong Ping Village. The three major parts of the events are running, the cheering team parade and a stage performance cum prize presentation.
What: Ngong Ping Olympic Run cum Cheering Team Parade When: April 13, 9am-1:30pm Where: Ngong Ping Po Lin Monastery and Ngong Ping Village
Enquiries: 2852 4313

A distance race will be held in the morning in Tsuen Wan, with a carnival to follow in the afternoon. A 30-minute TV show will promote the event.
