Fact and Fiction
What is fact? What is fiction? In the case of this competition, fact is represented by Abrahm Lustgarten’s China’s Great Train: Beijing’s Drive West and the Remaking of Tibet, an account of China’s quest to build a railway into Tibet and its obsession to transform Tibet’s land and people. Fiction ostensibly comes in the form of Ma Jian’s Beijing Coma, an allegorical novel about a man who lies unconscious on his iron bed for close to a decade while all around him China continues to change. We’re making a set out of one copy each of the books and have five sets to give away. To win a set, simply tell us the title of one of Ma Jian’s previous best-selling novels.

Carey Crowned
Mariah Carey strikes again! Following the Billboard No 1 single Touch My Body, her latest album – also her 11th – E=MC² hit the stores last fortnight and also went to No 1 with a SoundScan sales total of 463,000 in the first week. In this album, the diva worked with Antonio ‘LA’ Reid, the chairman of Def Jam records, as executive producer and collaborated with artists such as Damian Marley and T-Pain. For the new single Bye Bye she worked with Johnta Austin with whom she produced previous hits We Belong Together and Don’t Forget About Us. For your own copy of E=MC² anda specially made Mariah Carey iPod skin, simply tell us the name of Carey’s last album.
