Scream It
It is a long way until Halloween but scaring the hell of ourselves (or our friends) is something we love to do all year round. Madame Tussauds Hong Kong’s Scream - Escape the Asylum! is the latest attraction aiming to stir up our deepest and darkest fears with its state-of-the-art visual and sound effects, dark and creepy corridors, intense gore and screaming psychopaths. The attraction is a journey through an asylum for the criminally insane - who in this case have all broken free. You can imagine the rest. Madame Tussauds is open from 10am to 10pm daily and an adult ticket costs $140, or go to www.madame-tussauds.com.hk for details. Enter if you dare!

Puff It
Call it timely or just lazy, but seeing so many dragon boats at the Dragon Boat Festival has given us an idea of what to buy our dear dads for the coming Father’s Day. You guessed it – dragon-themed gifts! And Shanghai Tang is the right place to look. A dragon leather name-card holder ($580), passport holder and wallet ($980) or metal wine stopper ($780) all look like something dad would love. Who says mum always gets the best gifts? Go to www.shanghaitang.com for more in their selection.

Catch it
Some people think jellyfish are creepy, but for those of you fascinated by them, here is a chance to land your hands on your own jellyfish aquarium. The jellyfish look real but they are not - they will never die and you will never have to clean out that snotty mess that would remain after your favourite non-humans depart for jellyfish heaven. The aquarium is illuminated by a five-colour LED lighting system and the three silicon jellyfish float randomly in the tank looking as if they are ‘dancing’ under the changing lights. The aquarium costs $1,680 and is available at City Super, LCX and Universe Models Limited, or call 2110 4966 for enquiries.

Le French May is overstepping its dates with a photography exhibition lasting well into June. P-A Gillet, who would rather be identified as an artist who “uses photography without claiming to be a photographer”, is exhibiting examples of what his lens captured in Hong Kong during his stay here in April 2006. Don’t expect cliches like the harbour or busy streets with neon lights - Gillet is more interested in stunning us with extraordinary takes on bits of insignificance we usually never notice. The exhibition titled PA in HK will be held at the Kapok Gallery (G/F, 9 Dragon Road, Tin Hau Temple Road, Tin Hau, 2549 9254) from now till June 15. Admission is free and opening hours are from 10am-8pm on weekdays and from 1pm-7:30pm on weekends.

Rub It
I am currently into a book called More Sex Is Safer Sex by economist Steven E Landsburg but after visiting www.masturbate-a-thon.com I guess I am reading the wrong book. We shouldn’t be looking for safer sex, we should be looking for safest sex – for which the website gives a piece of advice: masturbate. While masturbation - aka wanking - is part of some people’s daily routine, it is not part of sex education in Hong Kong (at least not in my school). So if you wonder whether you have been doing it right all this time, or are curious to find out what Masturbate-a-Thon activities are, simply log onto the website.
