Boxing Day
Rocky x 16 comes to town in our very first super-heavyweight fight fest on June 25. This will be No 1 of three tournaments coming to our city, and 16 world-class heavyweight fighters from countries including Turkey, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Brazil will battle to their last breath for a place in the finals of this Planet Battle Championship. Men to watch at this contest are Thai superstar Naruepol of The Contender Asia fame, New Zealand's WMC Super Heavyweight Champion Andrew Peck and local hero Alain N’Galani, the 2006 Kuoshu All-Style Martial Arts World Champion and 2004 Hong Kong Muay Thai Heavyweight Champion (WMC). The night will be remarkable not only for the fight action and resulting sweat, but also the theatrical sound and lighting systems, laser and pyrotechnic displays and, um, fabulous ring girls.

Bike Trails
The first races of the GP ReCyko Action Asia MTB Enduro series will take place on June 1. The series starts with a two-hour race in which teams of two race alternate laps or individuals race at the Sheung Shui MX Club and its hill trails. The concept behind the series is that participants or relay teams can take as many breaks as they want and the number of laps they complete will decide on their final ranking. Races will get longer and more difficult as the series progresses – races will last three, four and five hours as the series runs into September, October and November respectively. The HK Mountain Bike Race by the HK Cycling Association also takes place this fortnight.

Rugby Lesson
Summer is coming and it's time to make plans to keep the kids active and entertained. Sport is always a good suggestion and one the HK Rugby Football Union has picked up on with a beginner’s course in rugby for boys and girls above 5, starting in July. Basic technique, team skill and physically training will be taught and parents are welcome to participate with the children.

More Paddling
Jumping into the river to make a political statement may be one way of ensuring your fame but the poet Qu Yuan probably didn't quite foresee the centuries-long dragon boating result of his suicidal protest in 278 BCE. Some 2,300 years later, the Fragrant Harbour commemorates with races like the HK International Dragon Boat Regatta 2008 in which teams from around the world will paddle hard to compete not only for prizes, but also for the fun of this now carnival-like competition.

Bowling for Hong Kong
The 34th Hong Kong International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships, which serves as the qualifying round for the final leg of the ABF Tour - Hong Kong, is entering its final stage this month. The Senior Masters Finals will take place on June 5, followed by Graded A Masters Finals, Open Masters Finals - Block 1 and Graded B Masters Finals will be on June 6, followed by the Open Masters Finals - Block 2 and Open Masters Finals - Step-Ladder Finals on June 7. The top 16 Asian men and women in the championship will qualify ABF Tour - Hong Kong later in the month.
