Ear It
If you really want to play it cool and show off your sense of style, try hanging a pair of these AIAIAI earphones from your head. The ’phones were designed to be a little out of the ordinary by Kilo, a leading design company in Denmark, in consultation with sound technicians from C4 Studios. They come in three colours – orange, army green and black – with or without the swirl in the cord: can you fail to look cool rolling down the street dangling a pair of these? And the dress code to go with your AIAIAI ear accessories? Anything from Levis to a black tie and suit. Well, maybe. The earphones are available from GOD, City Super and Log-on at $499. For more details, visit www.aiaiaihk.com

Hear It
How many times have you wanted to trash your iPod earphones – especially in a bus or the MTR where you can hear other people’s voices better than your music? If you are tempted to look at high quality (but, yes, expensive) earphones, take your iPod or MP3 player to a Shure stockist, try any set from their range of earphones. Just doing that will automatically enter you into a lucky draw to win a pair of SE530s worth $3,500. Check out www.shure.com.hk for outlet locations.

Learn It
Those with sports fever will know all about Euro 2008 playing out this summer and will also be counting down to the Olympics. But what about the rest of us, those who barely know the difference between a shuttlecock and a slam dunk and the downright sport idiots without a clue? At the Sports Arena both the fanatics and those keen to learn more can take part in many interactive activities like virtual volleyball matches or role-plays as judges at an Olympics event. It is both loads of fun and an introduction to the nature, skills required and scientific principles of a range of common sports. A bit like playing Wii, but more educational, I guess. The interactive exhibition starts on June 20 at the HK Science Museum. Entry costs $35 and opening hours are 1-9pm on weekdays and 10am-9pm on weekends. Closed on Thursday.

Wear It

A classical pianist and the world’s leading brand in trainers – now they are related? It turns out that not only is Lang Lang a huge sports fan (especially soccer, according to the Chinese pianist) but he will also be performing at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, so adidas decided to tailor a special edition of their Originals iconic model Gazelle for him. The name of the pianist is printed in Chinese on the heels and his concert pose in silhouette also appears on the sneakers. With this, the sports brand is officially invading the world of classical music – 500 pairs of these limited edition sneakers are available in Hong Kong at adidas’ Originals Concept Store, Catalog, C.P.U, Dahood, D-Mop and i.t. at a cost of $650 a pair.

Bear It
If recent downpours have left you sodden by the time you arrive at work in the morning. As you wring yourself out remember how delicious it is to be wet and salty in a more sunny situation. Yep, summer is here and with thoughts of the sand, sun and the rolling sea it’s time to buy a new swimsuit. Esprit have got there before you and are ready with their latest ranges based on a trio of themes: retro sportswear, surfing and girly flowers, all priced from $100-$399. So as the humidity starts to soar, scribble yourself a memo to check out the itsy bitsy designer wetwear at www.esprit.com
