High-Risk Ventures
The name is Xtreme and the action will be pretty extreme when Cityplaza’s Atrium and Centre Bridge is transformed into competition arenas – filled with halfpipes, rails and ramps – for risky skateboarding, in-line skating and BMX biking demonstrations. The final two days of Cityplaza’s Xtreme Sports Gala 2008 will cap off the week with a BMX Trial Bike Challenge, in which international riders will demonstrate their creativity and strength negotiating various man-made and natural obstacles.

BMX Trial Bike shows run Monday-Friday at 1pm, 3pm and 6pm, Saturday and Sunday at 3pm, 4:30pm and 6pm. The Trial Bike Challenge will replace the 3pm show on the weekend of August 16 and 17.

Furious Feet
Established in 1988, the Inspired Dance Company promotes the art of dancesport through performance and education. To celebrate its 20th birthday, the company is hosting a formation competition for the first time, in which groups of six to 12 couples will dance samba, cha cha cha, rumba, paso doble and/or jive on stage. The competition in the afternoon will be followed by a performance by the company.

Pink Rugby
On the weekend of 6-7 September “Putting the pink back into rugby” will be The Fat Boys 10’s with their traditional pre-season charity fund raising tournament held in Angeles City, the Philippines. All proceeds will go to two local charity organizations. If you can’t make it down there, head to King’s Park on the 6 September for the DeA pub 7's.

Kung Fu Marathon
We’ve all seen it in the movies, but the real kung fu experience will unfold at The Hong Kong Wushu Union’s Wushu Open Championships. Events are divided into open and elite groups, the latter being restricted to representatives of the Hong Kong teams at the Asian Games, East Asia Games, World Wushu Championships and the Asian Wushu Championships. Stars will include Yuen Ka Ying, the gold medal winner of the Dual Event in the 9th World Wushu Championships, as well as Tang Siu Kong and Cheng Tin Wai. 450 events will be in competition on the day, so expect kung fu hustle up close and personal.
