Wear It

The latest design from Miguel Caballero’s Black Label Line of ‘secure’ clothing takes care of any concern for drive-by shootings at your local golf course. The stylish, tailor made golf shirt is made of a lightweight bullet proof fabric and available in three colours and your choice of a low, medium or high protection level. But with a retail price of $12,000 USD ($93,000 HKD), you’re not likely to be a proud owner of this shirt unless you’re a political dignitary like current clients Prince Felipe of Spain or Venezuela’s President, Hugo Chávez. The Black Label, designed with European fashion in mind, also includes items like a lamb leather jacket and a crisp tuxedo shirt. Now you can stay safe and stylish from whatever assassin might be after you, just hope that they don’t aim for the legs. Visit www.miguelcaballero.com to find out more.

Name It

Ever wonder how many hottiegirl2006’s or metallicafanxx’s are roaming around the internet? UserNameCheck.com helps to solve the worry of any chatter or gamer that might be concerned as to whether there’s another metallicafanxx making footprints across the web. In minutes, the application checks through over 60 websites to show you whether your preferred username is taken or available, giving you the chance to register your username everywhere or to pick another while you’re ahead. The system isn’t perfect, returning some false ‘available’ hits and timeout errors, but it’s worth a visit if you’re hoping to brand a unique username. Try it for yourself at www.usernamecheck.com

Pop It (up)

The limited shelf life of fashion is taken to a whole new level with Dysemevas, a ‘pop-up’ concept clothing store that will showcase fashions from ten designers from Hong Kong and China. Items from The Year Of, Yang Du and Daydream Nation will be featured in a revolving schedule of matching themes, including “Girl’s Gone Wild” and “Chaotica”. After a browse through the two-story building, see if you can order a themed cocktail from the adjacent playroom, showcasing related parties and happenings to merge culture with fashion. Products for sale range from luxury denim to pop-art trinkets to graphic tees. If you can make it to Dysemevas during the six short weeks in which the pop-up store will be open for business, you’ll have a chance to get your own piece of exclusive art and/or fashion. Dysemevas will be open from November 11th to December 21st. (256 Hollywood Road, Sheung Wan, Tuesday to Saturday: 11 am – 8 pm Sunday: 12 pm – 6 pm).

Bite It
Haven’t had enough of ghouls and monsters at Halloween? Then order yourself a custom made pair of fangs from ‘Distorted Smiles’. Specialising in tooth reconstruction, you can get any style of teeth from any film, spooky myth or even create your own horrifying pearly whites. It’s a complicated process of making moulds and mail orders, but the results look fantastic. They are made specifically for each individual, a cap fitting snugly over your teeth and coloured to look as natural as possible. This site is famous amongst cosplayers and independent actors and directors – the prices depend on the difficulty of the design plus shipping and handling.
