NEWS & PROMOTIONS

Just opened are Doghouse (Shop 3, G/F Hay Wah Building, Lockhart Road, Wan Chai, 2528 0868) and Sports Place (G/F, 36 Forbes Street, Kennedy Town, 2819 6900), complete with pool tables and live sports on tv screens.

Also new is Club SoSo (10/F, 1 Knutsford Terrace, Tsim Sha Tsui 3904 2222). They have a huge balcony to chill out on, a host of resident DJs to keep you bopping until the early hours and a wide range of wines, whiskeys, vodkas, brandies and over one hundred types of liquor to keep you hydrated. You could also become a member of Club SoSo, giving you cash credit of $5500 to spend and half-price drinks every Wednesday – joining costs an initial deposit of $5000.

Soak up the scenic views at Vertigo Ultralounge (26/F, QRE Plaza, 202 Queen’s Road East, Wan Chai, 2575 8980) whilst sipping on some vodka and Red Bull, which costs only $28 every Wednesday from 10pm to 2am.

Just in case you were planning on heading to Soda for its pole fever night every Wednesday, it has closed! Italian restaurant Mrs Jones (Upper Basement, Harilela House, 79 Wyndham Street, 9123 6049) has taken its place so expect to see a write-up in megabites soon.

It only happens once a month so gallop down to Adrenaline (2/F & 3/F Pavilion Stand, Happy Valley Racecourse, 3690 3690) for their Ladesirous night at 7pm on 4 February. Ladies get in free, with a complimentary glass of champagne whilst gents pay $180, including a light buffet. Enjoy spectacular views of the horse races whilst the balcony is transformed into a champagne nail bar for you to quaff your Perrier Jouet whilst enjoying the professional nail painting and beautifying services from Harvey Nichols Champagne Nail Bar.

Kronenburg 1164 is launching a limited edition bottle and glass designed by Philippe Starck available in over 100 of our bars, pubs and French restaurants. Designed to be elegant and reveal the golden hues of the beer, it is the first beer bottle designed in this special shape and looks set to become a collector’s item so get your mitts on one now!

Have your own Crying Game moment as the lovely boys from Kowloon Rugby Club get in touch with their feminine side at Miss Kowloon on 21 February 7.30pm, at Grappas (Jardine House, 1 Connaught Place, Central, 2521 2322). Tickets cost $400 in advance or $450 at the door, which gets you entertainment, dinner and, most importantly, 3.5 hours of an open bar. Email krfcsocial@gmail.com for more.

If you thought CNY festivities were over, think again! Cliq is holding a CNY Ball on 8 February with special guests TECHRIDERS all the way from Tokyo, to play their radical hybrid of minimalism, breakbeat and click house over cutting-edge visuals. If that isn’t your scene, try the accompanying hip-hop room; entry is $260 if you get your tickets before February 6 or $350 at the door. 2/F, On Hing Building, On Hing Terrace, Central, 2868 3111.

Be prepared for a truly unique music experience at Zaza on 31 January with Japan’s DJ Dora, founder of a group of female DJs called FAM FATAL. DJs Karan, Forest and E-mail will also be on hand to keep the tracks spinning. Entry is $220 in advance or $320 at the door. 3/F, The Toy House, 100 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, 3171 8311.
