Beer and art aren’t really two things you would put together but Kronenbourg 1664 is about to change that. France’s number one selling beer is channeling Parisian romantic atmosphere in a new string of promotional materials. Five visual artists gave an impression of what l’Amour Français means for them in some remarkable art-advertisements. You may now enjoy a fine art glass of beer at bars where K1664 is sold and appreciate the French Art of Pleasure through these amazing artworks.

Coeliacs, are you tired of sitting out while your friends down beer after beer, well now there is no excuse not to join them. Gluten free beer is now being imported from Australia. Not only are they gluten free but they are also preservative and colouring free. This doesn’t mean that O’Brien’s Beers are taste free either. They are full bodied and apparently non-coeliacs might not even notice the difference which can only be a plus. O’Brien Beers will be available at The Beer Bay’s Stanley and Pier 4 outlets for $30 a bottle. The Beer Bay, Shop 7, Village Square, Stanley Plaza, 23 Carmel Road, Stanley, Hong Kong (Tel: 90806814), and The Beer Bay, Lot No. K4, Pier 4, New Reclamation, Central (Tel: 2869-1127).

‘Blending a rich heritage of quality with modern craftsmanship’ Tequila Don Julio rumour, well marketing spin, has it that Don Julio that instead of enjoying his early years like the rest of us he spent his youth learning the ancient methods of making mescal wine in underground ovens until in 1942, he founded his first tequila distillery: Years on and we’re seeing the results of his labour, you’re drinking it. As with many of the new tequillas available in the SAR this is a smooth and crisp tequila - meant to be enjoyed not merely consumed.

And now for something completely different, yes I know you’ve heard that before - and when I say alcoholic tea, ice teas in a zillion nice and nasty flavours will bring back lots of fun memories or not. This is not ice tea though, normally you’d steep your tea, leaves or bag, with water. How about infusing your leaves with spirits, tea steeps just as well... vodka tea, gin tea, tequilla tea... the combination of flavours and spirits is limitless. To help you, Tea Forte have launched a range of pyramid infusers which look very sharp and come 8 to a packet ($120) from Great or www.tea-concepts.com. And it works my regular M&S Fair Trade Earl Grey tea bag made a very nice Earl Grey vodka.

Newly opened in Wanchai is the the Trafalgar (5/F The Broadway, 54-62 Lockhart Road, Wanchai, 2110 1535, www.trafalgar.com.hk) an English pub offering a wide range of Ales - bottles $58, H/H $40; draft including Mangers Cider, Marston’s Pedigree and Spitfire. There’s a massive menu featuring all the traditional English favourites and a lovely balcony where you can sit outside to enjoy them. There’s a full schedule of live sports and Sam is hoping Newcastle stay up.
