Glass Music
Invented by Benjamin Franklin, the glass harmonica was one of the most celebrated instruments of the 18th century and was embraced by composers like Mozart and Donizetti. Yet it was later banned, as it was believed that the harmonica’s sound could drive a player insane. French musician Thomas Bloch is not concerned – he is one of the major pioneers in the revival of the instrument and has worked with the likes of Radiohead, John Cage, Gorillaz, Damon Albarn and Marianne Faithfull. Together with the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, he will be playing in the Glass Music concert as part of Le French May on May 26 at 8pm in the HK City Hall Concert Hall. To win one of the three pairs of tickets we are giving away, tell us who the chief conductor of the City Chamber Orchestra is.
