How did you get together and form a band?
It was when our ex-guitarist and my friend, Carina, and I met up with Chiwai (guitar) and Sammer (bass) one night in October 2008. We chilled out and talked over some food and drinks and found out that we shared a common interest in music: indie pop. Right then we decided that we had to form a band together. Twisterella was born two months later.
What has been the most memorable moment for the band?
For me it was at the beginning, when the band asked me to change my singing style. My voice is low but they wanted me to sing like a little girl. It was really hard, but I tried my best. Now I don’t sing like that anymore – I’ve learnt how to relax and have my own unique style. I also remember, due to some technical difficulties, it took from 12am to 12pm to record our first demo!
What kind of music you most dislike?
We don’t think there is good or bad music. I don’t think classifications are necessary. All of us are just music lovers. So why don’t we just be a part of it? That’s why we stay together, through music.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?
Other local bands – but we don’t have anyone specific in mind. Bands with a similar style to ours. I don’t think our sound will work well with hard metal or hardcore alternative bands.
What has been your most embarrassing moment on stage?
We’ve actually never performed on stage yet. The Underground will be our first and hopefully it won’t be embarrassing!
What are you most looking forward to when performing at The Underground?
It’ll be really cool. Soler is going to be there, so that’s exciting. But I’m just looking forward to meeting other local bands, making more friends with other musicians and performing our best. This is our first performance, so we are all very excited about it.
Describe your band in seven words.
Common, joy, emotions, thoughtless, kind, will, trust
