My Queer Valentine (re-run)
Rick Lau

Fringe Club, Fringe Theatre, 8pm, $180, Tel: 31 288 288
My Queer Valentine is a musical celebration of, and homage to, the lives of the misfits. The love that dare not speak its name is now the love that can’t shut the hell up! From Cole Porter's lyrics full of homosexual innuendo to Lorenz Hart's autobiographically anguished lyrics, to Jerry Herman's bright optimism, Stephen Sondheim's wry irony, Kander & Ebb's dark world and Rufus Wainwright's modern sensibility, My Queer Valentine shines a spotlight on those who skirt away from the mainstream in the often complex and dubious areas of sexuality and the personal stories that define their lives.

The financial crisis has created anxiety among the employees. Rumors of downsizing, a halt to IPO listing, and the possibility that current female boss Zhang Wei will be replaced has led to a state of affairs in which every employee has begun fending for himself while eyeing Zhang Wei's coveted post. As the employees begin to compete with one another in their own ways, amidst ‘rejoicing, fury, lamentation and laughter’, a silently brutal game of survival unfolds in the office.
