T20 Blitz @ Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground – 11 February, 2018

The T20 Blitz started cool, but by Sunday afternoon as action heated up and the powerful finalists duked it out, even the sun had popped out to take a look at the scintillating batting of Kumar Sangakkara and Nizakat Khan. The legendary Sri Lankan thrilled the crowd with his hitting through the tournament, but it was Hong Kong batsman – denied a hundred when stunning caught on the boundary – who starred in the final.

India by the Bay Opening Reception @ India House – 1 February, 2018

India by the Bay 2018 launched with an opening reception hosted by the Indian Consul at India House and attended the iconic festival guest of honour Zeenat Aman. The festival runs until 9 February and features a wide selection of Indian culture and performing arts.

Wanchai bar Churchill‘s celebrated it’s second anniversary on the 31 January with a free flow party and lion dance.
There were also ‘Trump’ sausages that raised a laugh but satisfied no-one.

Roller Derby @ Victoria Park – 27 January, 2018

The ladies of the Hong Kong Roller Derby took on the Pan-Asian Spring Rollers at the Victoria Park Roller Rink. bc was there to capture the action even if, in truth, we didn’t quite understand all the rules.

A good time was had by all as the Pan-Asian Spring Rollers with a late surge snatched victory. Despite the heavy padding there’ll be some sore bodies today as the action is fast and furious.

The Ring Soft Opening Party – 25 January, 2018

New esports bar The Ring on Knutsford Terrace held it’s soft opening on the 24-25 January, 2018. Taking up the whole 6th floor, The Ring offers 6 luxury esports chairs with lovely large curved screens set up in pairs for head to head competition. Playing is free, but the loser has to buy the winner a victory drink (price tbc). There are two beer pong tables, multiple tv’s and ‘The Ring’ which serves many functions.

A nice touch are the lockers behind the benchseats allowing customers to lock their bags away and ‘game on’ anywhere in the bars without worrying about their valuables.

Khalil Fong & Diana Wang captivated their fans with a unique concert experience under The Big Top at the AIA Great European Carnival. The concert was the final one of a series of Billboard Radio Live gigs. Ahead of the gig, fans queued excitedly – many intrigued by being so up close and personal with the stars during the show.
