ONF: We Must Love Asia Tour @ Kitec – 29 March, 2019

ONF’s We Must Love Asia Tour with special guests Keung To and Anson Lo played to an excited crowd at the Kitec on the 29 March. The South Korean boy band – comprising Hyojin, E-Tion, J-Us, Wyatt, MK, U, and Laun –  enjoyed the atmosphere so much they graced their fans with an encore.

India by the Bay Opening Reception @ Asia Society Centre – 28 February, 2019

Now in its fifth year India by the Bay brings the best of India to Hong Kong. The diverse and eclectic festival program features music, dance, film, theatre, yoga, literature, art and of course food for audiences to savour.

Premiere Cinema to Open at Elements

Premiere Cinema will open at Elements on 1 March. Operated by Broadway Circuit the new cinema has 12 houses containing 1,600 seats, two of which are equipped with Dolby ATMOS 3D sound – one of which is main house, and the other is a small ‘VIP’ house.

The opening film selection and the cinema amenities have yet to be announced. Check the website for details www.cinema.com.hk

French-speaking Francophonie Festival

French-speaking communities across the world celebrate the richness and vibrancy of their cultures on the 20 March. International Francophonie Day, as it’s known, commemorates the grouping of French-speaking states by the Niamey Convention in 1970.

In recent years the Alliance Francais de Hong Kong has organised the Festival de la Francophonie which this year runs from 12 March to 3 April and features an eclectic selection of music, film, theatre, comedy and an opening lecture from Dany Laferrière.

A mini French-speaking Film Festival at the Fringe Club’s Upstairs Studio feature four films, entry is free with registration
19 March: Toujours Aventurier (Switzerland) – Screening with the alpinist J. Troillet
22 March: Petit Paysan (France) – Screening with the director
26 March: Les Rois Mongols (Canada)
29 March: Une Part d’Ombre (Belgium).

The free Mars en Folie concert at MOM Livehouse features the rock of Cherry Chérie (Canada), the electro-pop melodies of Suzane (France) and Stevans (Switzerland) and the ethnic rap of Témé Tan (Belgium).

The fourth Hong Kong French Theatre Festival features a play a day from 26-30 March at the Sheung Wan Civic Centre. Tickets are $300.

There’s also a workshop, lecture and more amidst this celebration of the French speaking world.

Dragjam2 – Just because it’s Love @ Bulle d’Art – 16 February, 2019

An alternate celebration of love DragJam2 – Just because it’s Love looked to remind a packed audience that love is supposed to make you happy.

Showcasing the talents or not of Stephaine Slackhouse, Muschi, Pan Sze, Lucy Lucy, Circle K, Llama del Rey, Angilicious and organiser Gabor Zsoka there was stand-up comedy, dance, dating games and of course a big black dildo for a lucky raffle winner.

A fun relaxed night. Gabor hopes to run different themed Dragjams every couple of months to raise awareness of drag, offer a platform for those who want to explore drag and amid the fun to inject a bit of seriousness about social issues.

Ladies Day @ Kowloon Cricket Club – 17 February 2019

Kowloon Cricket Club hosted its second annual Ladies Day on the 17 February 2019 at it’s Cox Road home. KCC‘s Ladies Day looks to raise awareness of women’s cricket locally and this year to raise money for the McGrath Foundation – a breast cancer support and education charity in Australia.
