Year of the Pig Fair @ Southorn Playground – 2-4 February, 2019

An assorted group of students and youth organisations hosted a friendly Lunar New Year carnival at Southorn Playground in Wanchai from the 2-4 February to celebrate the Year of the Pig.

There was a range of imaginatively named stall selling bovine themed goods including stuffed animals, hand decorated notebooks, imitation neon pig signs, balloons and a fun friendly atmosphere.

Churchill’s & Queen Victoria Anniversary – 30 January, 2019

Wanchai pub’s Churchill’s and The Queen Victoria held a joint anniversary party on the 30 January as the Queen Vic, as she’s affectionally known, turned 8 and Churchill’s celebrated a third year.

A large crowd of regulars partied the night away as the bars celebrated their anniversaries and the upcoming Year of the Pig in traditional style with a dragon dance.

Elekron World Premiere @ Studio City, Macau – 23 January, 2019

Macau’s newest attraction an electric action stunt show Elekron had it’s World Premiere at Studio City on the 23 January, 2019 – and bc was there to capture the action. Set in the future Elekron features a range of custom built electric vehicle, stunts and comedy.

Opening Night Cocktails @ AIA Carnival – 14 December, 2018

To celebrate the opening of the Fifth AIA Carnival at Central Harbourfront, organisers The Great European Carnival hosted a cocktail party for sponsors, friends and supporters. This year’s carnival runs until the 17 February 2019 and features rides, games and Great Circus of Europe.

Great American Texas BBQ @ Kowloon Cricket Club – 27 November, 2018

An evening of heavy cold rain added a unique local flavour to the Great American Texas BBQ 2018 but did little to dampen the enjoyment of prime US meat.

The rain did though allow for demonstrations of considerable dexterity, eating tasty US beef ribs, while holding a plate full of burgers, sausage, chilli, artisan US cheese, sushi; a beer; an umbrella and for the really skilled taking a selfie… And the creation of new friendships as umbrellas, plates and recommendations were shared.

Hosted and sponsored by the Texas Beef Council, USMEF and USDA with music from Taiwanese band Whisky River, the evening promotes and showcases Texas beef and artisanal US products. World Champion BBQ-master Timothy Broderick of Pit Ventures was there with his legendary brisket and short ribs.

Postiljonen @ MOM Livehouse – 21 November, 2018

Scandinavian band Postiljonen made a third visit to Hong Kong on 21 November 2018 to entertain an enthusiastic audience at MOM Livehouse. The trio – Norwegian singer Mia Bøe  and two Swedish dudes Daniel Sjörs and Joel Nyström Holm – added a saxophonist for the aurally awesome performance.

American Artisan Cheese @ US Consul’s Residence – 8 November, 2018

‘American cheese’ was for many years synonymous with tasteless slices of plastic cheese… Things though have changed in the last decade as the world’s largest milk producer and a myriad of small and big cheese companies across the fifty states now produce some of the tastiest cheese in the world.

Unconstrained by the tight regulations that define a type of cheese in France / Italy / UK, cheese manufacturers in America have experimented with milks and production processes to create delicious traditional hard and soft cheeses but also many with new flavours and textures. The US Dairy Export Council is working hard to raise awareness of locally and slowly we are beginning to see these American artisan cheeses in Hong Kong shops.

Wine & Dine Festival 2018 – Opening Night, 25 October, 2018

The 10th Wine & Dine Festival opened under a full moon at Central Harbourfront with a dramatic drone dance over the waters of Victoria Harbour. The novel performance was but a momentary distraction to the festival visitors who danced among the booths sampling tasty bites from across the globe paired to a plethora of wines, coffee, spirits and craft beer.
