5 women’s rugby teams competed at the 2015 KowloonFest. The Kowloon RFC, Shenzhen Dragons, Ho Bit Ruckers, Shanghai Jenny Crabs, Laos Lady Nagas all played each other in a mini-league to decide the Cup and Plate pairings.

Women’s National 10s: University Unicorns 12-27 HKFC @ Kings Park – 4 October, 2014

The highly anticipated first game of the season lived up to expectations for the Unicorns, the majority of who also were experiencing their first ever competitive game of rugby. The game started at a frantic pace with HKFC taking an early lead due to a few ineffective Unicorn tackles. The Unicorns charged back though, with a try from Antje Cosgrove and some good breaks of the HKFC defence. The opposition picked their game up and with some strong evasive running regained the lead. A nice solo try from newbie Karen Chiu gave a little hope but the day wasn’t to end in a opening day win for the Unicorn herd. Nevertheless, a good contest and a good natured game giving an encouraging start to the season, and, with a little more game experience, the unicorns will be a force to be reckoned with!

Triple Trio, Season Opening Rugby @ Kings Park – 5 October, 2013

The 2013-14 Hong Kong rugby season got off to a highly entertaining start at Kings Park with three Premiership matches featuring a slew of familiar if rebranded teams, a new trophy and most importantly some good rugby – lots to look forward to over the next few months.

Hong Kong Scottish Day @ Kings Park – 24 August, 2013

The 3rd Hong Kong Scottish Day takes place on 24th August at Kings Park and marks the start of the HK Domestic season for 2013/14. While already a much anticipated and popular event on the rugby calendar, this year’s tournament will have the added excitement of being the first leg of the first “Kings of the Sevens” series, which will also incorporate the DeA 7s on 7th September and the Country of Origin on 15th March, 2014.

There will be Premiership, Championship and Women’s Divisions, and the draw for the Premiership 7s section at HK Scottish Day has thrown up some mouth-watering clashes to start the season with hosts HK Scottish drawn in a tough group against last year’s league champions Kowloon and runners up HKFC in the Tartan Group, The Presidents VII round off the group.

In the Caledonian Group, DeA will take on Grand Champions Valley and GC runners up HKCC while Tin Shui Wai will be looking spring a surprise or two.

The teams will play in a round robin format within their groups with the winners of each group going into the Cup Final, runners up in the Plate and 3rd place team in the Bowl.

A cold wet Kings Park played host to the 2013 International Youth Tournament as rugby teams from Australia, Singapore and the USA joined the SAR’s clubs for a day of sparkling competitive rugby.
