Tang Poems

The ‘New Choral Settings of Tang Poems’ project was initiated by the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts at The Hong Kong Institute of Education, and funded by the Dr. Kwong Kai To Education Foundation Rural Training College Alumni Association Limited. The aim, as set out by the Executive Committee made up of Professor Richard Tsang (Artistic Director), Dr. Paulina Wong (Project Director), and Dr.Allison So and Michael Leung (Project Coordinators), was to facilitate the appreciation and understanding of Chinese poetry and culture through original choral settings of 20 selected Tang Poems by Hong Kong composers. An additional requirement of the project was the attainment of distinct cross-disciplinary learning outcomes, including providing an opportunity to encourage local composers to work on original educational repertoires geared to school learning purposes.
