Hong Kong Police filmed Beating up Hand-cuffed Protestor

Hong Kong Police beat up hand-cuffed (with plastic zip-ties) protestor Civic Party member Tsang Kin-chiu after carrying him to a (not so hidden) corner.

There is also video of a man wearing a similar t-shirt to the person beaten up by police throwing water on them http://news.now.com/home/local/player?newsId=115049

If they are the same person – then arrest and charge him. But a gang of police beating up a hand-cuffed man. Disgraceful, the policemen involved have been identified – but not arrested!

Police aggressively arresting someone just after their actioned started at around 3am – apologies for some blurred shots. There was little light and I was continually being jostled and pushed by the police. Click on the photos, for the full gallery with more videos and photos.
The police aggressively manhandled protestors and media alike. I and other media were often stopped from taking photos, moved away from the area, pushed around…. Some police were polite about it, some very aggressive.

Taxi Driver protests, pay increase: $500/driver today – 13 October, 2014

http://bcmagazine.smugmug.com/Bcene-photos/2014/Umbrella-Movement-13-October/44936653_2QD54K#!i=3608954748&k=36CgwCq

A group of about 30 taxi’s parked on the tram tracks heading towards Central, and lent to their horns to annoy all around. Most drivers sat in their cars eating lunch, when asked why they were there “My manager (the person who owns/manages the taxi and its licence) told me to come” Based on the previous protest, I asked the drivers “Are you getting paid $400 to come here”.”No, it’s $500″ confirmed two drivers.

Unsurprisingly when I tried to take photos of those organising the taxi protest, they tried to avoid the camera and refused to answer the question “How many drivers are here without being paid to come?”

Umbrella Movement 13 October: Police remove barriers outside the Mandarin Hotel

http://bcmagazine.smugmug.com/Bcene-photos/2014/Umbrella-Movement-13-October/44936653_2QD54K#!i=3608161737&k=4WXWt9N

At around 5:30am Police moved in large numbers to remove barricades at various places in Admiralty and Central. The police negotiator described it as recovering government property… without wanting to be picky, since we HongKongers paid for it with our taxes isn’t it ‘our’ property. Regular police equipped riot shields, batons, helmets and gas masks provided a cordon for the members of the Police Tactical Unit – wear blue fatigues, instead of the more military green – who removed the makeshift roadblocks that had been in place for over two weeks.

The limited removals at first glance seem to do nothing for traffic movement other than allow guests of the Mandarin to arrive by taxi instead of having to walk a few feet – certainly worth the effort of a thousand uniformed police and numerous plain clothed officers!

Waking Eye: Searlette Lau and Minnie Law

Waking Eye

Across the three Umbrella Movement zones, Hongkongers have been using all sorts of means to express themselves and their frustrations with a government that has lost touch with their needs and stifled hope. Searlette Lau and Minnie Law are two City University students who put the finishing touches to their art installation on the walls of Legco yesterday.

Inspired by their professors description of art in other protests zones around the world and a global project called Insideout which transforms messages of personal identity into works of art – the two students wandered amongst the protestors picking out 100 who were asked to cover their eyes. The resulting images were blown up and pasted together to create the installation.
